Preparing the Workforce of Tomorrow
An important part of the TotalPros mission is to train high school and college business students in the skills and attitudes that lead to world-class job performance.
One of the biggest challenges business students face is learning professional communication skills. As many experts admit, success in the 21st century workplace will depend on the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization. The Total Professional for Students workshop focuses on the importance of good communication and teaches students valuable tools that will serve them in any situation.
Another challenge for many students is developing a good work ethic. Business and vocational teachers do their best to convey the importance of a professional attitude toward workplace demands. Yet they bemoan students' chronic absenteeism, tardiness and failure to grasp the implications of unprofessional behavior on the job.
Temporary and permanent staffing services echo the same concern. Somehow we're not getting through to many young workers that what seems like an acceptable wage today will not be sufficient to meet their needs tomorrow. And that they are creating a reputation and personal brand that can make or break their chances at finding and succeeding in a satisfying, lucrative career.
By providing a real-world perspective on the value of what Tom Peters calls "The Brand Called You," The Total ProfessionalTM for Students prepares young workers to be proactive in the workplace and competitive in the job market. The workshop includes interactive activities and exercises that appeal to young people. Each participant receives a workbook that reinforces the concepts and serves as a resource for future learning.
